The declining economy, loss of employment and diminished savings has many people experiencing anxiety or depression for the first time in their lives. It's understandable given that we're living in a recession that has lasted more than a year and shows limited signs of improvement. To help individuals understand the emotional impact of these changes and learn effective coping strategies and treatments, Long Beach Medical Center is offering free, confidential anxiety and depression screenings every Wednesday from 2 pm to 3 pm at The Counseling Center, 455 E. Bay Drive, Long Beach NY. Screenings are conducted by trained mental health professionals and walk-ins are welcome. For more information call 897-1270.
