For those with Dementia or another memory-related illness, The Komanoff Center for Geriatric & Rehabilitative Medicine offers comprehensive care in a protective, home-like environment.
Our Staff
Our compassionate staff understands the stress and challenges that families face when a loved one experiences one of these frustrating diseases. We welcome the participation of family members and encourage you to become part of our team.
Team members include psychiatrists, neurologists, registered and licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, registered dietitians, physical, occupational and speech therapists, as well as a friendly and welcoming corps of volunteers.
Our multidisciplinary team approach ensures coordinated services that focus on cognitive stimulation as well as valuable socialization with fellow residents and staff.
We offer goal-oriented therapeutic programs in a safe environment
Residents engage in age and stage-appropriate therapeutic programs that are personally designed to help maintain physical abilities, enhance socialization, decrease agitation and promote a feeling of self-worth and success.
Our staff works together as a team, understanding the specific needs and challenges of each resident. And, their goal is not only to support the residents, but their families and friends as well.
Family members enjoy peace of mind knowing their loved one is residing in a home-like environment that is secured by our WanderGuard departure alert system.
Goals of our Memory Loss/Dementia/Cognitive Impairment Program
Our staff work as a team to develop goal-oriented programs specific to each individual’s needs. Goals include:
· Reduction in behavioral issues
· Decrease in psychological medication usage
· Improvement in eating habits and weight gain
· Improvement in sleeping patterns
· Increase in memory
· Decrease in falls

The Komanoff Center for Geriatric and Rehabilitative Medicine is a 200-bed hospital-based facility providing short-term rehabilitation, long-term skilled nursing care and hospice care. It is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and licensed by the New York State Department of Health, having met their standards of excellence.
