For more than 40 years, The Counseling Center at Long Beach Medical Center has been dedicated to helping individuals and families seeking relief from personal and family problems.

Our broad continuum of care includes both inpatient and outpatient mental health and wellness services. 

Our outpatient programs include:

•    Individual and family counseling
•    Couples and marital counseling

•    Child and adolescent counseling
•    Counseling programs for military members and their families
•    Bereavement and grief counseling
•    Bereavement and grief support groups
•    Medication therapy
•    Treatment of depression
•    Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

•    Counseling for parents of children with emotional difficulties
•    Treatment of serious and persistent mental illness
•    Treatment of mentally ill chemical abusers
•    Case management services
•    Weekly free depression and anxiety screenings

Our Military Health Program

Long Beach Medical Center is proud of its designation as an approved Department of Defense Tricare provider and is pleased to provide treatment and support to the men and women who secure our country’s freedom.

Our staff is specially-trained to assist military members and their families with the many psychological issues associated with deployment and upon returning home from combat.  Services are available for both adults and children.  
 

Our Staff

Our staff is comprised of highly qualified mental health professionals who are dedicated to improving the lives of others.  Using an interdisciplinary team approach, our staff includes psychiatrists (adult and child/adolescent treatment), psychiatric nurse practitioners, professional counselors, psychiatric social workers and case managers.    All of our professional staff meet New York State licensing or certification requirements in their areas of specialization.

Saturday  ..........  8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Insurances and Fees

We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most health insurances.  In addition, Long Beach Medical Center is a fully-credentialed Department of Defense Tricare provider.  

A sliding fee scale, based on family size and income, is also available for individuals without insurance.  No one is denied help because of inability to pay.

Accreditation & Licensure

The Counseling Center at Long Beach Medical Center is a funded agency of the Nassau County Department of Mental Health, New York State Office of Mental Health and Long Beach Medical Center.  

We proudly hold accreditation by The Joint Commission (TJC).

Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment

Long Beach Medical Center offers short-term inpatient psychiatric care for individuals aged 18 and older.  This designated unit has a team approach to patient care and a compassionate and caring staff.  Continuity of care is enhanced as each individual is seamlessly transitioned to outpatient care at our Counseling Center, if follow-up care is recommended.   For more information on inpatient services, please click here.
