CERTIFIED AS A CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

Long Beach Medical Center has been awarded the prestigious American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education Recognition Certificate for maintaining a quality diabetes self-management education program. The program was originally recognized as a center of excellence in 2004 and has consistently demonstrated successful outcomes for patients following the program. 

By bestowing certification, the ADA believes the Long Beach Medical Center program offers high-quality education, which is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment. It recognizes that Long Beach Medical Center employs a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive education, information, resources and support to promote effective diabetes management. Education Recognition status is verified by an official certificate from the ADA and is awarded for four years.

The Diabetes Education Center at Long Beach Medical Center’s is dedicated to helping individuals manage their diabetes, whether they have been newly diagnosed or living with diabetes for many years. 

Services include one-on-one consultations, group classes, medical nutrition therapy, weight loss management and monthly diabetes educationand support group meetings.  It also offers a speakers program for community organizations, medical professionals, and schools and camp personnel on various diabetes-related health issues.
