Founded in 1922, Long Beach Medical Center has grown dramatically from its origins as a beachside emergency first aid station. Today’s Medical Center is a comprehensive health facility which includes a 162-bed hospital, 200-bed skilled nursing facility (The Komanoff Center for Geriatric and Rehabilitative Medicine), certified Home Care Agency and numerous outpatient programs.

Our Emergency Department is a New York State Department of Health designated Stroke Center and is staffed by physicians who are board-certified in Emergency Medicine, a prestigious credential that demonstrates their dedication to the practice of emergency care.

We Specialize in Rehabilitative Care
Our rehabilitation programs help restore function and independence with progressive levels of care that include acute inpatient rehabilitation, short-term restorative care and outpatient rehabilitation care. As a patient, you seamlessly transitions through each level of care as your condition progresses. We’re with you every step of the way. And, because we’ve established our own certified Home Care Agency, your care continues even after you return home.

We Are a Community Teaching Hospital
Believing that we have a responsibility to assist in the training of future medical professionals, Long Beach Medical Center became a teaching affiliate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1982. We offer residency training programs in Family Practice and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and beginning July 2011 the Medical Center embarked on its latest post-graduate training program, a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine.

As the primary health care resource to the communities we serve, Long Beach Medical Center is a recognized leader in community health education and outreach. Each year we offer more than 60 free community health screenings, immunization and education programs to community residents.
