Physicians' Reciprocal Insurers Honors Long Beach Medical Center with 2011 Best Practice Award

Physicians’ Reciprocal Insurers has awarded Long Beach Medical Center its 2011 Best Practices Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in the promotion of patient safety. 

The award was presented to the Medical Center for its ongoing patient safety initiative to reduce the incidence of pressure injuries among patients in its hospital, skilled nursing facility (the Komanoff Center for Geriatric and Rehabilitative Medicine), and certified Home Care Agency.   

The Nursing Staff of these entities utilized a collaborative team model to implement a system-wide initiative of education, training, measuring and reporting information related to the care and management of patients with or at risk for pressure ulcers.
